A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4498 AS INTRODUCED 3-2-01
The Freedom of Information Act generally requires that governmental information be available to the public, with a list of certain exemptions. The bill would exempt from disclosure under the act certain personal information about county public health employees unless the public interest in disclosure outweighed the public interest in nondisclosure in a particular instance. More specifically, the bill would add the following information about county public health employees to the current list of information exempted from disclosure as a public record under the act under the specified circumstances:
· A county public health employee's personal address or telephone number;
· The names, addresses, or telephone numbers of a county public health employee's family members, relatives, children, or parents; or
· Personal information about a county public health employee's family members or information regarding their marital status.
