A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4214 AS INTRODUCED 2-13-01
The bill would amend the Public Health Code to require the Department of Consumer and Industry Services to annually conduct a random audit of not less than five percent of all health care providers who provide in-home medical care services in the state and are reimbursed, in whole or in part, by state or federal funds. "Health care providers" would include both individual health care professionals, and health facilities or agencies that provide in-home medical care services. The audit would have to include financial records, reported accidents, reported cases of misuse of patient funds, and reported cases of patient abuse.
The department would have to provide copies of the audit to the standing committees of the House of Representatives and the Senate with jurisdiction over senior citizens' health issues, and to the public upon request.
