A bill to amend 1935 PA 59, entitled "An act to provide for the public safety; to create the Michigan state police, and provide for the organization thereof; to trans- fer thereto the offices, duties and powers of the state fire marshal, the state oil inspector, the department of the Michigan state police as heretofore organized, and the department of public safety; to create the office of commissioner of the Michigan state police; to provide for an acting commissioner and for the appointment of the officers and members of said depart- ment; to prescribe their powers, duties, and immunities; to pro- vide the manner of fixing their compensation; to provide for their removal from office; and to repeal Act No. 26 of the Public Acts of 1919, being sections 556 to 562, inclusive, of the Compiled Laws of 1929, and Act No. 123 of the Public Acts of 1921, as amended, being sections 545 to 555, inclusive, of the Compiled Laws of 1929," (MCL 28.1 to 28.16) by adding section 4a. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 SEC. 4A. (1) THE INTERNET COMPUTER CRIME UNIT IS ESTAB- 2 LISHED WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT. 3 (2) THE INTERNET COMPUTER CRIME UNIT SHALL CONSIST OF AT 4 LEAST ALL OF THE FOLLOWING PERSONNEL: 05448'99 JJG 2 1 (A) SEVEN ENLISTED OFFICERS WITH THE RANK OF DETECTIVE 2 SERGEANT. 3 (B) FOUR NONENLISTED EMPLOYEES TRAINED AS FORENSIC INFORMA- 4 TION TECH SPECIALISTS. 5 (C) ONE SECRETARY WHO IS A NONENLISTED EMPLOYEE. 6 (3) THE INTERNET COMPUTER CRIME UNIT SHALL DO ALL OF THE 7 FOLLOWING: 8 (A) INVESTIGATE CRIMES COMMITTED IN ANY MANNER WHERE THE USE 9 OF THE INTERNET OR A COMPUTER WAS UTILIZED TO FACILITATE THE 10 CRIME. 11 (B) ASSIST AND COOPERATE WITH OTHER STATE, LOCAL, AND FED- 12 ERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ON CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS OF 13 CRIMES THAT ARE FACILITATED BY THE USE OF THE INTERNET. 14 (C) ACT AS A CLEARINGHOUSE FOR INFORMATION RELATED TO CRIMES 15 COMMITTED ON OR FACILITATED BY THE USE OF THE INTERNET OR A 16 COMPUTER. 05448'99 Final page.
