HOUSE BILL No. 5319 February 8, 2000, Introduced by Reps. Garcia, Gosselin, Voorhees and Birkholz and referred to the Committee on Gaming and Casino Oversight. A bill to prohibit certain dog races; to prohibit the simul- casting of certain dog races; and to provide penalties. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 1. As used in this act: 2 (a) "Person" means an individual, partnership, corporation, 3 limited liability company, association, governmental entity, or 4 other legal entity. 5 (b) "Simulcast" means the live transmission into this state 6 of video or audio signals conveying a greyhound dog race held 7 outside this state. 8 Sec. 2. A person shall not hold or conduct greyhound dog 9 racing for public exhibition for the purpose of wagering on the 10 results of the greyhound dog races. 11 Sec. 3. A person shall not allow or conduct wagering on the 12 results of greyhound dog races. 03408'99 TLG 2 1 Sec. 4. A person shall not transmit or receive interstate 2 simulcasting of greyhound dog racing for the purpose of wagering 3 on the results of the greyhound dog races. 4 Sec. 5. A person who violates this act is guilty of a 5 felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 2 years and 6 shall pay a fine of $15,000.00. 7 Sec. 6.
