        A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled

   "The Michigan penal code,"

   by amending section 246 (MCL 750.246).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Sec. 246.  Mutilation of flag, etc.--Any  A
             person who

 2    shall publicly mutilate, deface, defile, BURN, defy, trample

 3    upon, or by word or act cast contempt upon  any such
              A flag,

 4    standard, color, ensign, coat-of-arms, or shield  ,
              is guilty of

 5    a misdemeanor.
