A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5319 AS INTRODUCED 2-8-00


The bill would create a new act to prohibit greyhound dog racing in the state. Specifically, the bill would:


The bill would define "person" as an individual, partnership, corporation, limited liability company, association, governmental entity, or other legal entity. "Simulcast" would mean the live transmission into the state of video or audio signals that conveyed a greyhound dog race that was being held in another state. A violation of the bill would be a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than two years and a $15,000 fine. The bill would not preclude prosecution under the Michigan Penal Code.
