A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4722 AS INTRODUCED 5-25-99

Since 1979, the Adult Foster Care Facility Licensing Act has prohibited the development of any new adult foster care congregate facilities (facilities approved to care for more than 20 adults). The act prohibits the Family Independence Agency from issuing temporary licenses for these facilities, except for those replacing congregate facilities that were licensed as of March, 1984.

The bill would amend the act to allow the FIA to issue a temporary adult foster care congregate facility license to the two county infirmaries in existence in the state on the effective date of the bill.
