A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4016 AS INTRODUCED 1-26-99

House Bill 4016 would amend the Social Welfare Act (MCL 400.57b) to allow the Family Independence Agency (FIA) to require substance abuse testing as a condition for assistance under the provisions of the act. An individual who tested positive for substance abuse would be required to enroll in substance abuse treatment, and the treatment would become a part of the recipient's social contract with the FIA.
