Dear Father, in the name of Your Son, Jesus, we give You thanks for the blessings of the fruit of freedom and the product of Your grace and mercy; for this great and wonderful nation and state that we are privileged to live and to grow in; and for this deliberative body of our peers. May You grant them humility and a servant's heart that may always remember all who depend on their decisions and live with the consequences of those decisions. Help them to be teachable and to admit weaknesses. Help them to be able to receive criticism and to rely on Your wisdom. Please cultivate within them the capacity to develop positive relationships, to be patient with themselves and others, to interact with those who differ with them in respectful ways and to treat each person with love and dignity.
Fill each life here today with peace, kindness, gentleness and self-control. Grant unto them health and protection. Bless their families with safety and every material provision they stand in need of. In the name of Your Son we pray. Amen.
