A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the state con- stitution of 1963, by amending section 13 of article IV, to limit the time that the legislature may meet. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the state of Michigan, That the following amendment to the state con- stitution of 1963, to limit the time that the legislature may meet, is proposed, agreed to, and submitted to the people of the state: 1 ARTICLE IV 2 Sec. 13. The legislature shall meet at the seat of govern- 3 ment on the second Wednesday in January of each year at twelve 4 o'clock noon. Each regular session shall adjourn without day, on 5 a day determined by concurrent resolution, at twelve o'clock 6 noon. HOWEVER, THE LEGISLATURE SHALL NOT MEET IN REGULAR SESSION 7 AFTER THE NOVEMBER ELECTION IN AN EVEN NUMBERED YEAR. Any 03506'97 JLB 2 1 business, bill or joint resolution pending at the final 2 adjournment of a regular session held in an odd numbered year 3 shall carry over with the same status to the next regular 4 session. 5 Resolved further, That the foregoing amendment shall be sub- 6 mitted to the people of the state at the next general election in 7 the manner provided by law. 03506'97 Final page.
