        A bill to amend 1891 PA 186, entitled

   "An act to authorize the cities and villages of this state to
   provide for the lighting of their streets and other public places
   therein by means of electric or other lights,"

   (MCL 123.91 to 123.93) by amending the title and by adding sec-

   tion 4.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1                                  TITLE

 2         An act to authorize the cities and villages of this state to

 3    provide for the lighting of their streets and other public places

 4    therein by means of electric or other lights; AND TO PRESCRIBE

 5    PENALTIES AND PROVIDE REMEDIES.

 6         SEC. 4.  A PETITION UNDER SECTION 3, INCLUDING THE CIRCULA-

 7    TION AND SIGNING OF THE PETITION, IS SUBJECT TO SECTION 488 OF

 8    THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.488.  A PERSON

 9    WHO VIOLATES A PROVISION OF THE MICHIGAN ELECTION LAW, 1954 PA

 2    THIS SECTION IS SUBJECT TO THE PENALTIES PRESCRIBED FOR THAT VIO-

 4    168.992.

 5         Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act does not take

 6    effect unless Senate Bill No. _____ or House Bill No. _____

 7    (request no. 02378'97) of the 89th Legislature is enacted into
