        A bill to amend 1846 RS 14, entitled

   "Of county officers,"

   by amending section 117 (MCL 55.117).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 1         Sec. 117.  (1)  Notaries  A NOTARY public shall reside in

 2    the county for which  they are  HE OR SHE IS appointed  , but

 3     they  OR, IN THE CASE OF A PERSON WHO DOES NOT RESIDE IN THE

 4    STATE OF MICHIGAN, A NOTARY PUBLIC SHALL HAVE HIS OR HER PRINCI-

 5    PAL PLACE OF BUSINESS IN THE COUNTY IN WHICH HE OR SHE IS

 6    APPOINTED.

 7         (2) A NOTARY PUBLIC may act as  such notaries  A NOTARY in

 8    any part of this state.  ; and they shall 

 9         (3) A NOTARY PUBLIC MAY receive for  their  HIS OR HER

10    services such fees as are provided by law.
