A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6115 AS INTRODUCED 9-17-98


Chapter 16 of the Revised Statutes of 1846 sets forth the powers and duties of general law townships and township officers. The statute authorizes townships to, among other things, establish retirement systems and provide health and other insurance for township employees. House Bill 6115 would amend the statute to allow a township to establish a "cafeteria" benefits plan for its employees and officers.
