House Bill 5008

Sponsor: Representative Frank Fitzgerald House Committee: Public Utilities

Senate Committee: Technology and Energy

Date Completed: 12-5-95

SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5008 as passed by the House:

The bill would amend the Emergency Telephone Service Enabling Act to postpone the sunset on the emergency telephone service committee. The Act established the committee within the Department of State Police and requires, among other things, that the committee facilitate the successful development, implementation, and operation of 9-1-1 systems across the State. The current sunset provision would repeal the emergency telephone service committee on December 31, 1995; the bill would allow the committee to continue until December 31, 1998.
