SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4709 (Substitute H-1) as passed by the House:

 

The bill would amend the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to require the Directors of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to appear before a joint meeting of the Senate and House of Representatives committees having jurisdiction over issues pertaining to natural resources and the environment. The Directors would have to appear at a meeting held during the first week of March each year, and do the following:

 

--  Report on all policies of the DNR, DEQ, or Natural Resources Commission that had been developed or updated during the previous calendar year.

--   Submit copies of all such policies to committee members.

--   Report on activities the DNR and DEQ had undertaken during the previous calendar year.

--  If requested by one or more committee members, submit copies of any or all policies of the DNR, DEQ, and Natural Resources Commission.

--  Report on the amount of money received by the State during the previous fiscal year from hunters and anglers through license fees and, specifically, where that money was spent.

 

The committee chairpersons would jointly have to schedule the required meeting.
