SCHOOL ELECTION REFERENCES S.B. 514: FLOOR ANALYSIS

Senate Bill 514 (as reported without amendment) (as enrolled)
Sponsor: Senator Nancy Cassis
Committee: Government Operations

CONTENT
The bill would amend the Revised School Code to change references to sections of the Michigan Election Law.

Currently, the Code defines "intermediate school district election" and "regular school election" with reference to an election held on the date of regular school elections or on a date determined under Section 642b of the Michigan Election Law. The bill would refer instead to the date of regular school elections or a date determined under Section 642 or 642a; those sections provide for the scheduling of school districts' regular elections. (The Michigan Election Law does not include a Section 642b.)
