A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4854 AS INTRODUCED 6-18-03

The bill would repeal Local Act 1 of 1935, which prohibits hunting with firearms or dogs on Sunday in Hillsdale County.  However, the repeal of the local act would be conditioned on a vote of the voters of Hillsdale County.  The county board of commissioners could adopt a resolution to submit to the voters a ballot question on the repeal of the Sunday hunting ban.  The question would be submitted to the voters at the November 2004 general election or at a special election in 2004 called specifically for that purpose by the board of commissioners.  If a majority of the voters approve of the repeal, the act would be repealed ten days after the election results are certified.
