THE STATE SCHOOL AID ACT OF 1979 (EXCERPT)
Act 94 of 1979

388.1829 Applicant as a veteran, active member of military, national guard or military reserves, or spouse; question; "veteran" defined.

Sec. 229.

It is the intent of the legislature that each community college that receives an appropriation in section 201 include in its admission application process a specific question as to whether an applicant for admission is a veteran, an active member of the military, a member of the national guard or military reserves, or the spouse or dependent of a veteran, active member of the military, or member of the national guard or military reserves, in order to more quickly identify potential educational assistance available to that applicant. As used in this section, "veteran" means an honorably discharged veteran entitled to educational assistance under the provisions of section 5003 of the post-911 veterans educational assistance act of 2008, 38 USC 3301 to 3324.
