Key Words     Full Text Search The Full Text Field will allow the user to search the entire document set for word[s] and/or phrases. To search for a word, type the word in the full text field. Case is not important. Certain "noise words" (e.g. and, but, or the) however, cannot be searched individually. To search for a specific phrase, simply type the phrase (e.g. Office of the Governor). If your phrase contains the words AND or OR, you must enclose the phrase in quotation marks to prevent AND and OR from being treated as compound or boolean operators. To do a compound or boolean search use AND or OR between words or phrases. A root-word search asks the search engine to find a word that begins with a particular prefix. Root-word searches use the asterisk (*) as the wildcard character. Example: Find documents that contain words that begin with 'green'. To enter this query, type Green*into the full text area, and click the search button. The engine locates documents that contain the word green, and others that contain words such as 'Greenstone' (chapter 2 - the state gem). This type of search is also applicable to phrases. Proximity searches may be used to search for words near other words. To search for one word near another word, the search terms must be separated by "near()". As a word of caution, a text search will only find those words or phrases contained in documents. Unless the term or terms actually appear in each document dealing with your topic, you may not be finding all of the documents relating to that topic.
